What We Do

Eden Psychology & Consultancy Services Ltd practitioners provide creative, education and therapeutic services to children and families to support learning, development and wellbeing. We will work with individual children/young people or adults in a home, school or other setting. We also work with professionals who support children and families in some capacity as well as students and those pursuing careers in psychology or education. We apply insight from psychology to support a variety of special and additional needs including those associated with learning and social, emotional and mental health. We use a combination of psychodynamic and systemic principles and subscribe to a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach (a whole-person perspective) to thinking about life’s complexities. More information about our approach and values can be found here

Summary of Services Offered

Consultation: Consultation is at the heart of what we do at Eden Psychology & Consultancy Services Ltd as it provides a platform for clarifying main concerns, collaborative thinking, joint problem-solving and co-learning. It also means we can tailor processes to your unique situation. Consultation may lead to further work such as assessment, advice or training, or it may constitute a meaningful intervention in its own right.

Assessment and Intervention: Psychological assessment can take a number of forms, and can include insight and understanding obtained through consultations, as well as more formal information gathered through observation, testing, contextual data such as attainment levels provided by schools, and parents/carers' perceptions of their child’s development and needs. A critical part of any psychological assessment is an analysis of the context in which the child is operating, rather than a sole focus on within-child factors.

Training: We can tailor training packages to your organisation’s needs and are able to cover a range of needs children, young people and those supporting them may encounter.

Coaching/Mentoring: Coaching involves short-term goal-focused support and seeks to help you process a specific area of your work/life and work towards particular outcomes. It is driven by you and complemented by Coaching techniques and questions. Mentoring is a two-way process and can be longer in duration. If focuses on progress and developing your capabilities. Mentoring is also suitable for young people aged 11-19.

Clinical Supervision: Supervision provides a safe, therapeutic, and confidential environment for professionals to reflect on and discuss their work and the interplay between their personal and professional lives.

Team Development: We work with teams to facilitate interactive, solution-focused sessions exploring a specific area of team development and co-constructing ways forward.

Therapeutic Intervention: We offer a range of therapeutic intervention aimed at strength-building in different forms. Tree of Life work can be used to think about life experiences including those which have been difficult such as change and loss in children and families. It can also be tailored to staff teams and other groups and used as a reflective tool to support team functioning. Therapeutic Life Story Work is carried out with a child who may have experienced adverse childhood experiences and spent time in the care system. Alongside their parent/carer they have the opportunity to explore their life journey and develop a coherent narrative. Video Interaction Guidance seeks to strengthen attuned interaction between parents and children or school staff and pupils using video feedback.

Practitioners will provide feedback on work undertaken, in a form that is negotiated in advance with the you. This could take the form of verbal feedback, a short written summary of the work, or individual records of consultation where it has been agreed that they are necessary. In all cases the time needed to complete the written feedback/report will be factored in during the planning process and discussed.
